Video

The videos in the Scrap Tutor lessons are designed to run using Windows Media Player 7.1 or higher. The videos are a particular file type known as .wmv. This type of file will only play when using the Windows Media Player software. Video quality is largely dependent upon the following items:

  • Your computer's video card
  • The speed of your Internet connection
  • The amount of memory in your PC

The following is a list of common problems users may experience while trying to view the videos:

Problem: The videos won't play.

Solutions:

  1. Press the "Play" button and be patient. The videos can take a minute or two to load, even on a high-speed connection.

  2. You may not have the proper version of Windows Media Player installed on your computer. To download Windows Media Player, please visit the Windows Media Player web site.

Problem: I hear sound, but don't see any video images.

Solution: Your version of Windows Media Player needs to be upgraded. To download Windows Media Player, please visit the Windows Media Player web site.


Problem: I see the video, but don't hear any sound.

Solutions:

  1. Make sure you have speakers or head phones plugged into your computer and turned on.

  2. Make sure that your computer's master volume and/or wav volume setting is not muted or turned down.

  3. Your version of Windows Media Player needs to be upgraded. To download Windows Media Player, please visit the Windows Media Player web site.

Problem: The video seems choppy and/or the narration is choppy.

Solutions:

  1. The video has not completely downloaded to your computer. Please choose to "launch the video in an external window" and wait until it has loaded to play the video.

  2. Your PC may not have enough memory to effectively handle displaying the video. If other applications are open, close them while using the Scrap Tutor program. You may need to upgrade your PC by installing additional memory in order to achieve the best video quality.

  3. Your video card may not be good enough to correctly view the videos. Consider upgrading your video card or using the Scrap Tutor software on another computer with a higher quality video card.

Username & Password Problems

A username and password are required to access the online versions of Scrap Tutor. If you have forgotten your username or password, use the form below to retrieve that information:

Access

Access the the online version of Scrap Tutor is limited to one individual per account. You may access your lessons from multiple computers, but taking our lessons from too many computers may disable your account in order to prevent multiple people from using one account.

If your account is disabled, contact us to remedy the situation. If our records show too many different computers using the same account, your account is subject to being terminated without a refund.

Copying / Printing

In order to help protect the copyrighted material found on our web site, the ability to copy text has been disabled. Alternatively you may print any page by clicking the printer icon on the toolbar. Each lesson has a "printer-friendly" version which will allow you to print the supply list, step by step lesson, tips, and technique "twists" on a plain white background. This can be done by clicking the printer icon on each lesson's overview page.

Materials printed from this software are for personal use only. Reproducing any of these materials, even for nonprofit use is strictly prohibited.
